Can I receive continuing education credit for watching  this DVD?

The short answer is no, in most states.  The goal behind this product is to focus on one aspect of positional vertigo that is the most applicable and practical for your practice.  Instead of spending days in a course waiting for the part that is relevant to your practice, the Dr. Clark's Instructional DVD for the Treatment of BPPV brings the essentials to you.  The DVD is approximately 60 minutes in length so you may qualify for one hour of credit.  As a physical therapist, you can submit for approval in your state but this product is not intended to be a comprehensive continuing education course but a tool for your practice, much like how you would use a clinical book.

I've heard that I can just give a patient a home exercise for BPPV, is this safe or effective?

Home canal repositioning treatments are NOT recommended.  Not only is there the risk of transferring the otoconia debris to a different canal (which can result in an increase in severity of symptoms) but also you are denying the patient a quick and effective treatment that can cure the problem.  These techniques require the skill and expertise of a trained health professional.
